I…actually sucked it up and went to one of those events after all. I had a great time, and got to know some people a bit better. Potential friends! *gasp*
The prospect of wasting five or six hours on lonely boredom before falling asleep actually jolted me into overriding my fear of being a clueless idiot in front of people. Turns out socializing wasn’t so painful after all — big surprise. Now, if only my brain would remember this lesson and ease up on me in the future…
